"Invention & creative thinking"

Last Week I was invited to a speech given by Dr. Behrokh Khoshnevis, graduated from Sharif in 25 years ago.
He is now the professor of USC(uni. of south california).
His speech was presented in two sessions:in 1st session he introduced and explained about some of his famous inventions and new systems he has devised.
In fact he mentioned numerous wonderful inventions all registerd with his name patent in USA , that was really wonderful to hear an Iranian expert doing so in US.

In 2nd session he gave his interesting speech on "How to become an Inventor". he gave some guidlines for this subject , but the most important factor he underlined was the way most people have to think in order to be an inventor , and that was " Thinking Creatively, critically but appreciativly"
he said" Hafiz and Sadi and other welknown Iranian poets or artistis have all been great inventors since they invented new things and new area in their poems and works , so if they had focused on e.g., physics , they would have invented o created new mnachines or systems.

On the whole I enjoyed his speech a lot. So let's start playing inventor from right today, creative thinking. think deeply about the ususal subjects we always ignore in our daily life.

Ok all, let's see who invents or discovers something first, the prize is kept buy me.

Go ahead, you will be the one.

Good luck, missyou all.

About US

Who are We?

Hi to anyone who wants to know more about us or join us.

IT "information technology" has created a great information revolution in whole world.

Iran is one of countries that IT has affected its science and technology areas.

We, some of the students studying at Aptech institute for IT and Gostaresh Informatics Co.

(Sharif University branch) have different backgrounds but the same interests and purpose of gaining, developing and updating our knowledge.

The idea of having a website, weblog and more cooperation started from our teacher’s

(Mr. Noorizadeh) suggestions for forming different group and having various activities through team working. So for achieving that goal the most important task and method was to have networking connections. Therefore, some of us who had more experience in this area started creating a website and a weblog. The web site (www.PM4ever.com) belonged to Peyman and he developed his site for the sake of the mentioned goal. Later he made a group of designers and improved his work rapidly. We have a mailing list (itstudents@PM4ever.com) with which we can send a single email to all other registered friends.

The other useful work was done by our other friend Mazdak who created a new weblog for our class and now we can write our memos in there and share our ideas and diaries with each other, of course there is more this sites, you can visit for yourself.

In order to share what we all had and cooperate more closely, we formed a CD bank for which Amir and Fatemeh Taheri had the most role, in fact Amir is like an engine for our class.

Besides, we have made another group (Scientific Group) which is a collection of all IQs of our class, including Soroor, Fatemeh Khodaie (she always does her homework on time, so we all want to tease her) and other active students.

It’s not all that we do things for our studies; we try to find ways to learn more however, through funnier, interactive ways. We sometimes have English picnics that we go out and we all speak in English. Believe it, it’s more useful than spending many more hours in conversational classes since we communicate in English and use it in real situations, you can try it too.

On the whole, what Mr. Noorizadeh wanted us to learn and what we found during our class is that we can do everything as long as we work together.

With low facilities we started this course and in spite of many difficulties we, rely on GOD almighty and follow our attempts will gain the best knowledge.

To send us comments click here.

Your comments will help us very much; we look forward to all of them.

KITE NEVER RISES UNTIL, IT GETS OPPOSITE WIND.

    How ASPs Work?

The Web and the Internet began to really heat up and receive significant media exposure starting around 1994. Initially, the Web started as a great way for academics and researchers to distribute information; but as millions of consumers flocked to the Internet, it began to spawn completely new business models. Three good examples of innovative models include:

Amazon - Amazon (which opened its doors in July, 1995) houses a database of millions of products that anyone can browse at any time. It would have been impossible to compile a list this large in any medium other than the Web.
Ebay - Online auctions make it easy and inexpensive for millions of people to buy and sell any imaginable item. It would be impossible to do this at a reasonable cost or in a timely manner with any medium other than the Web.
Epinions - Thousands of people contribute to a shared library of product reviews. One of the Web's greatest strengths is its worldwide view and collaborative possibilities.
These different business models are all visible to anyone surfing the Web. One of the most interesting behind-the-scenes business models that the Web has created is called the ASP, or Application Service Provider. ASPs are a completely new way to sell and distribute software and software services. Although ASPs were possible before the advent of the Web, the Web makes them so easy to create that they have proliferated hugely in the last several years

    The Shift key FAQ

Q:my shift keys have little arrows or them.does that mean real shift key are located above them, and these keys are only signs to show them?
A:no,the little arrows mean up.that means look up at the screen!
Your keyboard is telling you to learn to touch type and quit staring at your fingers.

Q:why are there no shift keys on my keyboard, but there are two hif keys!
A:you should clean your keyboard and wash your hands more freguently!

Q:why are the shift keys bigger than the other keys ?
A:thay aren’t.this is simply an optical illusin.
To verify this,go out in a large field at night with your keyboard ,place it in an upright position ,and view it from a distance of 200 meters.surely the keys all look the same size!

    Networking Without The Wire

Since the adventof the remote control,it seems everything in our life has been going wireless.phones, mice, and even keyboards have shed their wires in past years.now the wires that connect us to our local computer networks are beginning to disappear as a host of wireless networking technology makes its way into our homes, businesses, classrooms, and even local coffee shops.
There are several wireless networking specifications.A specification the IEEE dubbed 802.11b is perhaps the most popular wireless networking standard.operating in the unlicensed frequency band between 2.4GHz and 2.4835 GHz,802.11b can transmit data at 11Mbps(megabites per second) over a distance of roughly 100 meters.other wireless networking standarad, including 802.11a and 802.11g,deliver higher speed but are not always compatible with other wireless networking specifications.
Because 802.11b is the oldest and the most popular of the wireless networking specifications,we’ll take a closer look at how an 802.11b wireless networking might operate.

    What is MPEG?

    Moving Picture Experts Group.
    Official Website: http://www.cselt.it/mpeg/

What is MPEG, what do they do?

MPEG is a working group in a subcommittee of ISO/IEC (International Organization for Standardization / International Electrotechnical Commission) in charge of developing international standards for compression, decompression, processing, and coded representation of moving pictures, audio, and their combination.
In particular, MPEG defines the syntax of low bitrate video and audio bitstreams of synthetic and natural sources, descriptions of their structure and content, and the operation of conformant decoders of these bitstreams. The encoder algorithms are not defined by MPEG. This allows for continuous improvement of encoders and their adaptation to specific applications, within the bitstream syntax definition. Along with the video and audio coding, MPEG also defines means to multiplex several video, audio and information streams synchronously in one single bitstream, describes methods to test conformance of bitstreams and decoders to the standard, and publishes technical reports containing software describing the decoder operation and software describing examples of encoder operation
